Junior Pathway

The aim of our junior programme is to give all juniors the best opportunity to develop their skills to enable them to maximise their potential.

The Shirley Tennis Club is committed to a strong junior programme as the players we develop become our future Senior players on the future, thus ensuring the Club continues to thrive on the back of a large number of players that have been with the Club over many years.

The following flowchart outlines the pathway for our juniors, from beginner Hot Shots programmes through to Interclub opportunities.

INTERCLUB

Players are put in teams of similar ages and abilities and play other Clubs at various locations around CHCH, normally on Saturday mornings. Players need to be able to hit a consistent forehand and be able to serve to progress to Interclub.

Junior Officials will encourage players considered capable to move to Interclub ranks, but they are never forced to if they don’t want to.
